Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Why would I need a website?
- Will a web presence increase my
sales?
- Can I afford to have a website?
- How long will it take before I
can tell people about my site?
- Will you keep track of my
online customers for me?
- If I want to edit my site in
the future, what will I need?
- What if I only want to pay you the one-time fee but need you to make occasional edits to my site?
Well, actually you don't NEED one. Unless you like getting
lots of new customers. Studies have shown that in this
technology-driven society, most people young and old alike, look
to the internet to look up business names, addresses and phone
numbers.
Your business will gain priceless value from having a
website, no matter what your service or product. You need only
to become visible to the part of the population that searches
the internet for your type of business, because those folks are
NOT seeing you now!
At this point, you should be asking yourself, Can I afford to
NOT have a website? The internet is best suited to garner
new clientele and additional business for the SMALL business
owner. The big guys are in your face all the time. You know
they're out there. It's the little guys tucked in a corner in a
small town that need the exposure.
For a small business with a basic web site (5 pages), the
design cost through ShoeString Sites starts at only $500, a
one-time fee which is about 1/2 price of other website
designers. You will also need to pay for hosting which starts at
only $3.99/month for 5 GB of storage (that's a lot) and up to
500 company-branded email addresses (ex:
vicki@shoestringsites.com or info@shoestringsites.com).
Robust features at low prices make web sites essential for any
business.
After our initial consultation, I will gather all information
I need to create your website. I will retain a 50% deposit
($250) and begin working on your site. I generally put
about 20 hours of work into getting your website up and running.
Typically you are ready for prime-time in less than 3 business
days. You can tell anyone you want at any time that your website
is coming and to watch for it in the coming days. Once your site
is up, it's a great idea to add it to any newspaper or radio ads
you might already be posting, as well as adding it to your
business cards, mailers, flyers, etc.
Absolutely. I will perform the administrative duties of
organizing the names and/or email addresses of your customers
who either inquire about your products or sign up for a
newsletter if you have a sign up form for one on your site.
Administrative fees vary, but usually run anywhere from $40-$75
per month. If you require no changes to your site in the
future, i.e. you plan to make all future edits to your site
yourself, you will have paid the one-time $500 fee for the
website, and that's it.
You will need Microsoft FrontPage 2003 or some other HTML
editor, and will need to know how to use it.
You have a few options. If you are going to be making
more than one change to your site every month, you may want to
enter into the monthly admin agreement with me, whereby I would
charge you a monthly fee ranging from $40-$70 based on your
needs, and I would make the changes to your website when needed.
However, if you think you will need changes made to your site a
few times a year, my hourly fee is $50, with a minimum charge
for 30 minutes
